  • AC1.3-Cultural change (broken window thesis)
    • definition: a building that has a broken window will therefore give the impression that no one cares which ultimately leads to  criminals breaking in and committing more crimes there
    • example: uncared for neigbourhoodattract more crime wheras better kept neigbourhoodhave better security and therefore less crime will be reported
    • stats: 80% more crimes were recorded in the most income-deprived areas
    • positive consequence: concentrates crime to one specific area so it is easier for police to patrol and maintain
    • negative consequence: builds up crime as no one reports the crime in that area as people expect it to happen
