        • Running metaphor - character compares self to medusa
        • innocent animals that turn to stone increase in size - shows extents to which she'll go
        • Samantic field of unplesant assonence words to emphasise the snakes on her head
        • Important rhyme - 'stone' & 'own' - she can only possess him by turning him to stone
        • 'shield for a heart' - afraid of commitment
        • 'look at me now' = ambiguous as he needs to take responsibility for his actions & is a plea for attention but there's irony in that will turn to stone if he looks
