Blood Flow through the Heart

View mindmap
  • Deoxygenated blood (DB) raturns from the body to the heart.
    • Vein: Superior Vena Cava (SVC) + Inferior Vena Cava
      • DB enters the right atrium (RA)
        • Blood flows through tricuspid valve (TV) into the right ventricle (RV)
          • RV pumps DB through the pulmonary valve (PV) into the main pulmonary artery (MPA)
            • Blood flows from through the right and left PA to the lungs
              • In the lungs, oxygen is put into the blood and CO2 is taken out during breathing.
                • Oxygenated blood (OB) flows from lungs back to the left atrium (LA)
                  • OB flows through the mitral valve (MV) into the left venticle (LV)
                    • LV pumps the blood through aortic valve (AoV) into the aorta (Ao) that takes blood to the rest of the body.
