- Helps us to have a balanced diet
- Shows us how much of each food group to eat

- 1/3 fruit and veg, 1/3 carbs, the rest should be protein and dairy. A small amount should be sugar.
- Elderly people may suffer under-nutrition, if they lose interest in food or can't cook for themselves
- Undernutrition can cause health problems- depression, anaemia

- Balanced diet: a diet that contains all the nutritents in the correct amounts to meet individual needs
