- Method of quantitatively finding the concentration of a solution by reacting a known volume of it with another solution of known concentration.
- The end point of a reaction is often detected by the use of an indicator which changes colour.
- 1. A fixed volume of solution (unknown concentration) is pipetted into a concical flask.
- 2. A few drops of suitable indicator are added and the flask is placed onto a white tile.
- 3. The solution of known concentration is added slowly from a burette, with constant swirling.
- 4. As you approach the end-point, add the solution from the burette dropwise.
- 5. After a rough titration, accurate titrations follow until concordant results are obtained.
