        • UK have been a part of the ECHR since 1951

    • Disadvantage-s
      • Some groups of the population cant vote such as the Homeless, and prisoners, furthermore the House of Lords isn't elected
      • Party membership has dropped significantly since the 1950s and voter turnout is dropping as well
        • Conservatives used to have 3% of Electorate in 1970 ow just 0.5
      • Much of the ownership of the press is owned by very few hands, powerful companies can have a big influence and do tend to have political preference
      • Parliament is sovereign meaning that it can leave the ECHR furthermore constitutional changes only need a simple majority to overturn limiting rights
