- Free elections in which almost everyone over the age of 18 can vote in
- Widespread Participation, there are many pressure groups that hold the government to account
- Just Stop Oil and have disrupted multiple events such as the Snooker world championship
- Strong protection of civil rights since the UK is signed up to the ECHR
- UK have been a part of the ECHR since 1951
- Press and media are free from government interference]
- Disadvantage-s
- Some groups of the population cant vote such as the Homeless, and prisoners, furthermore the House of Lords isn't elected
- Party membership has dropped significantly since the 1950s and voter turnout is dropping as well
- Conservatives used to have 3% of Electorate in 1970 ow just 0.5
- Much of the ownership of the press is owned by very few hands, powerful companies can have a big influence and do tend to have political preference
- Parliament is sovereign meaning that it can leave the ECHR furthermore constitutional changes only need a simple majority to overturn limiting rights
