- An infection is the presence of microorganisms causing damage to body tissues

- Viral Infection- minute particle that is capable of replication but only within living cells. Viral infections include; common cold or cold sores.
- Fungal infection- Fungus – simple organism that lacks the green pigment chlorophyll
- Parasitic infection- Parasite – any living thing that lives in or on another living organismProtozoa – single celled parasitic organisms
