        • Often ovulation induction drugs.
        • Triggers egg production in the body if it is not producing and releasing an egg each month.
      • In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)
        • The eggs are collected and placed in special culture medium and prepared sperm is added.
        • The embryos are transferred to the uterus approximately two days after collection.
      • Ultrasound
        • Used to examine the structure and function of the ovaries.
        • In many cases it can show problems such as: Polycystic ovaries, fibroids, endometriosis
      • High- intensity sound waves
        • Used to create visual images that can be recorded to assist treatment.
    • Can reveal levels of:
      • Testosterone.
      • Luteinising hormone (LH).
      • Progesterone.
      • Prolactin.
      • Oestrogen.
      • Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH).
    • Can reveal reasons for the absence of ovulation, provide information on the endocrine system, and may be used to assess the individual's potential to become pregnant.
      • Achieved by measuring the hormone levels in the body to detect any differences or dysfunctions.
  • Main aim is to stimulate the ovaries to produce seve-ral follicles so that more that one egg can be retrieved.
    • This increases the chances of a successful pregnancy.
