      • This was resolved by splitting the country in half and half of it going to the cathlicas and protestants respecently
      • The two groups that wanted Julich-Cleves
        • Protestant union and france
        • Hapsburgs of Austria and Spain
      • James married his daughter Elizabeth to Fred V of palatinate
      • arranged for charles to be married to the spanish infanta
