      • best result in 2005 with 62 seats with leader charles kennedy
        • due to the party's opposition to the Iraq war
      • nick clegg became leader in 2007 and had the first experience of a libveral gov in the colitiion of 2010-2015
      • the coalition caused economic austerity and reduced public spending alienating many liberals
        • the party had to accept the Conservative’s manifesto pledges, it had little choice but to accept some unpopular decisions. This included tripling tuition fees to over £9,000 per year.
      • the coalition erased the lib dems unique idenity
      • 2015 election was disastrous with them only getting  8 seats

      • campaigned for remain heavily during Brexit- they hoped to attract angry remainders in the 2017 election but thy only got 1 seats
