- The start of savagery is shown by the boys removing their uniform (appearance changes)
- The hunting and killing of the pig excites the boys.
- Simon gets mistaken for the Beast and the boys kill him when dancing a tribal dance (Ralph joins)

- At first he demanded his name was Merridew but at the end its just Jack which shows how order and society has broken down

- He neglects the signal fire and enjoys hunting. Ends up hunting Ralph.
- Focussed on surviving rather than getting rescued like Ralph.

- Isolated from the others
- Talks to the 'Lord of the Flies'
- Spends a lot of time in the jungle alone.
- He faints a lot which shoes his vulnerability.
- Gets killed by the boys in a tribal ritual gone too far.
- Could infer that maybe he had to die for Ralph to learn?

- Shows violence at the start when he picks on the littluns (they are weak and vulnerable)
- Causes Piggy's death
- Tortures Sam and Eric until they join Jack's tribe.
- Prepares a stick to mount Ralph's head on.
- Sharpens a stick at both ends when they hunt Ralph.
