      • BOX- what is seen as serious crime is socially & ideologically constructed
        • BOX- crimes involving huge corporations given less attention than WC crime
      • SNIDER- sees passing of health & safety laws as something the gov does when pressured by outside agencies - these provide a smoke screen
    • 3) SELECTIVE LAW ENFORCEMENT
      • official statistics give off impression that crime is mainly a WC thing, but this is largely due to SLE
      • CHAMBLISS- one rule for rich, one rule for poor, higher social class less likely to be prosecuted for crimes
      • PEARCE- biggest crimes are committed by ruling classes-  'crimes of the powerful'
    • EVALUATION
      • MC crime underrepresented in crime stats- white collar crime harder to detect
