        • Maintaining the rule of the bourgeoisie by controlling people's ideas, values and beliefs. EG. The Media, Religion and the Education system
    • Evaluation of Marxism
      • Ignores free will and assumes that pupils passively accept indoctrination
        • Willis and 'the lads'  they rejected school rules
      • Only sees Class as the key inequality
        • They ignore other types such as Age, Gender and Ethnicity
