- Trojans
- They are shown as victims from the beginning of the epic
- In Book One Juno creates a storm which was intended to kill them

- They are presented as savages and cruel, much more brutal than the Trojans. Their brutality could be likened to that of Turnus

- They brutality killed Priam, they left him as a 'corpse with no name'
- They have no mercy, they killed Polites in front of his father
- They caused the destruction of Troy
- The Trojans do ally with the Arcadians which are Greeks led by Evander

- King Latinus hates war and he has been a very peaceful ruler
- Virgil is keen to present Latinus as an ancestor so he presents his city in terms which resonate with Augustan Rome

- Turnus leads the Latins during battle and they prove to be very cruel

- In Book 7 the catalogue of tribes fighting against Aeneas is presented with slings, half-moon bronze shields, wolf-hide caps and special skills
