- Neither accept or reject the world
- Focus on religious rather than worldly matters
- Members tend to live conventional lives
- World-affirming NRMs
- Lack some of the conventional features of religion
- Offer their followers access to spiritual or supernatural powers
- Accept the world as it is
- Promise followers success in terms of mainstream goals & values
- Tolerant of other religions
- Followers are often customers rather than members
- Place few demands on members
