- The US ZONE
- They implemented denazification procedures more STRICTLY than other 3 powers.
- E.g. They listed 3.5 million Germans as 'chargeable cases'
- USA wanted to CONVERT Germans to DEMOCRATIC attitudes, but DISTRUSTED them.
- However, their zeal DIMINISHED as the Cold War EMERGED

- BRITISH ZONE

- Their MAIN AIM was to REVITALISE France's destroyed economy
- they allowed former Nazis from other zones to work in their area, due to LIMITED MANPOWER
- SOVIET ZONE
- Applied RIGOROUS DENAZIFICATION measures
- Former Nazi civil servants, teachers and law professionals were PURGED
- A no. of Nazi war criminals were EXECUTED and Nazi properties were CONFISCATED
- However, former Nazis prepared to CONFORM to COMMUNISM were NOT REMOVED
