- Resulatant forces: a single force on an object that has the same effect as individual forces acting together
- Zero resultant force; a stationary object remains stationary, a moving object continues at a constant speed
- Non stationary force; if stationary, begins to move in the direction of a resultant force, a moving object speeds up, slows down or changes direction depending on the direction of the resultant forces
- Calculating acceleration; f =ma
- f= force N , m= mass Kg, a= acceleration m/s2
- The gradient of a distance time graph represents the speed of an object
- When an object is stationary, the line on the graph is horizontal. When an object is moving at a steady speed in a straight line, the line on the graph is straight but sloped.
- speed = distance travelled ÷ time takenSpeed is measured in metres per second, m/sDistance is measured in metres, mTime taken is measured in seconds, s
- The velocity of an object is its speed in a given direction
- When an object is moving with a constant velocity, the line on the graph is horizontal. When an object is moving with a constant acceleration, the line on the graph is straight but sloped.
- Work done is when a force moves something
- w=fd; w is work done J, f is force in N, d is the distance in m
- Power is a measure of how quickly work is being done and so how quickly energy is being transferred.
