  • Speed is a measure of how far something travels is a certain amount of time.
    • Speed and Velocity
  • Speed= Distance/ Time
    • Speed and Velocity
  • The units depend on how you measure the distance and time.
    • Speed= Distance/ Time
    • Velocity is a vector quantity.
      • Scalors and Vectors
        • Physics
          • Force and Acceleration
            • Acceleration= Change in Velocity/ Time Taken
              • The size of the acceleration depends on the 'resultant' forces acting on an object and the mass of the object.
        • The displacement is a vector quantity which shows how far the object is from its initial position.
      • When an object moves the distance is scalor measure of how far the object moved.

      • Acceleration
        • Acceleration is a measure of how fast something can change its speed.
      • Gravity causes objects to accelerate as they fall.
        • Acceleration is a measure of how fast something can change its speed.
      • Motion Graphs
        • Motion graphs tell us a 'story' about how an object has moved.
          • Motion Graphs
            • It does this by showing how distance, speed, displacement etc. vary within time.
              • When familiar you can quickly get info at a given time.
          • You can also find the displacement when measuring the area under a velocity time graph.
            • Motion graphs tell us a 'story' about how an object has moved.
              • It does this by showing how distance, speed, displacement etc. vary within time.
                • When familiar you can quickly get info at a given time.
            • If the graph is not uniform, you can split the area into sections.
          • Netwon's Laws
            • Law 1: Any object will keep the same velocity unless there are unbalanced forces acting on it.
            • Law 2: If unbalanced forces are acting on an object it will   accelerate.     F = M A
            • Every forces has an equal and opposite force.
          • Stopping Distances
            • Braking Distance= The distance a car will travel whilst the brakes are engaged and the car comes to a halt.
              • When a car needs to brake, then the distance it will travel is made up of two separate sections.
                • Stopping Distances
              • When a car needs to brake, then the distance it will travel is made up of two separate sections.
                • STOPPING DISTANCE= THINKING DISTANCE + BRAKING DISTANCE
