- work at specific allocated times
- have routines and use a timetable
- this can help your brain!
- work in small chunks
- about 30 min chunks as if you were practicing a sport
- don't cram it all late at night or it can cause your grades to drop!
- Don't passively re-read using a highlighter
- be active and use other ways
- eg. flashcards as a memory reinforcement
- have a specific goal
- choose something that you wan to revise and focus on that
- make it something you need to work on or achieve it
- Teach it to yourself
- make sure you don't just learn it
- Teach the concept of it to a friend or family
- practice, practice, practice
- practise by actively testing yourself
- identify gaps in your own knowledge
- have a designated workspace
- choose a quiet, isolated area in your house and make it your work space
- make sure you have all distractions out of the room and have all recourse on hand.
- No music or mobile phones
- some types of music is shown to distract study time
- any distractions can delay study
- work at specific allocated times
