- The Mens Rea for Section 18 is intention to cause greivous bodily harm or to wounding a person intentionally
- Actus Reus
- The Actus Reus of the Criminal Justice Act 2003 of Section 18 is to inflict wounding on to another person's body or inflict grevious bodily harm
- The type of injuries that could be seen from a Section 18 Offence would be both: visible disfigurements and permanent disabilities
- One Case = R V BELFON 1976, a girl and her boyfriend were having a disagreement occured where he pinned down his grilfriend to the floor and a man tried to help yet got slashed with a razor his head and his chest
- Additionally, another case if R v Burtenshaw 2012 in which the defendant smashed a glass to intentionally cut someone, the glass was jagged which was used as 'nastiness' and 'maliciously' conducted
