    • Divorce rate
      • link; women need to be independent and be able to fend for themselves and be self sufficient, women no longer rely on men for security and so they want to be high achievers and successful at work to have quality of life chances for themselvesand  their children
        • Gender and external factors: Family
    • an increase in cohabitation and a decrease in the number of first marriages.
      • breaks norms of society, therefore women don't need to rely on men and marry, thus becoming more independant.
    • increase in the number of lone parents
      • the girl may become really close to the mother as she would become more independent as they've seen their mother like that
    • smaller families
      • parents would fo focus on their children more easily, in turn giviing them more confidence.
