- Statistics: Types of Sampling
- Random Sampling
- This sample allows everyone in the population to have an equal chance of being picked.
- Random Number Generator
- Random Number table
- Systematic sampling
- Using a sampling frame, a starting point is chosen at random and thereafter regular intervals
- For example, choosing every 15th house of 120, to obtain 8 houses.
- Cluster sampling
- Units are chosen in clusters that the population is chosen in, these are chosen at random
- For example, choosing households of various streets
- The cluster should be dissimilar so that the sample must be representative of the population
- Quota sampling
- Sampling a selection of the population. Quotas specify a certain subgroup of the population
- For example, 50 females, aged 45-50
- Random Sampling
