- Urine passes out of the kidney, down the ureter and to the bladder.
- The blood is drained by a renal vein.
- Role: To remove waste from the blood and produce urine.
- Supplied with blood from a renal artery.
- Each kidney is made up of tiny tubules called nephrons.
- Each nephron starts in the cortex.
