- Vascular Shunting
- Vasodilation
- Increasing blood flow into capillaries
- Vasoconstriction
- Reducing flow of blood capillaries by action of sympathetic nerves
- Arterioles, Sphincters - circular muscle, Contraction, Reduced diameter, Reduced blood flow/supply, smoth muscle, sympathetic nervous system, stimluation by impulses
- This occurs through a narrowing of certain arteries
- Redirection of blood around the body to the cells and muscles and tissues that need it most
- Increase in blood supply:
- Skeletal muscles, Heart, Skin
- Decrease in blood supply:
- Liver, Kidneys, Digestive organs
- Blood Supply stays the same: Brain
- Vasodilation
