- Waves- Chapter 14
- Progressive waves: Waves that move through a material and transfer energy from one place to another.
- Longitudinal waves:Particles of the medium vibrate parallel to the direction of the wave velocity.
- Transverse waves: Particles of the medium vibrate at right angles to the direction of the wave velocity.
- Displacement: The distance of a point on the wave from its undisturbed position or equilibrium position.
- Amplitude: Greater the amplitude, greater the sound. Max displacemnt.
- Wavelength: Distance from any point on a wave to next exactly similar point.
- Period: Time taken for one complete oscillation.
- Frequency: 1/Period
- Mechanical waves: They need a medium to travel like Sound.
- Progressive waves: Waves that move through a material and transfer energy from one place to another.
