          • the youths hadn't been disciplined or socialised with a father figure so they became deviant and thrill seeking
            • example: teddy boys

        • affluent without responsibility
          • after the war people had more money. so youths had disposable income to spend on style and music.
            • example: mods and rockers. now had money to buy bikes and scooters
      • once the 2 world wars were over and conscription stopped in 1950. men no longer had to wear uniform.
        • working class found themselves with money in their pockets and new influence of music and styles coming over from america.

            • as it extends the period of time where children can grow up and not socialise without having the real world burdens

            • means youth can gain money from part time jobs.
