Overall comparisonBoth emphasise the lack of escapism from war and the impact this has on soldiers plunged into this harsh reality. Bayonet Charge presents the idea of nature being impacted by war as well as the soldiers. Ted Hughes had a passion and fascination with nature and animals so, adding his interest and love of nature into the poem promotes his ideology of nature and the superiority of it to a reader. Exposure on the other hand, clearly displays and focuses more on the impact of war on the protagonists nation. Wilfred Owen explores how the soldiers were mentally stripped of human dignity because they were exposed to the elements of war. |
