Conservatism continues to place a high value of patriotism and tradition' Discuss
Basing my essay outline on a YES/NO theme rather than advantages/disadvantages. Please don't be put off due to the fact it says advantages and disadvantages, I just find it a good layout :)

EvaluationThere is no doubt that the conservatives do still believe in patriotism and tradition, as they always have done since the beginning of conservatism but to a high value can be disputed. The Conservative party today have recognised the more pressing need to be pragmatic, particularly in issues regarding homosexuality and nuclear families. Whilst the party does remain sceptic of the EU and focused on the nation, core values sometimes have to be altered to adapt with the changing world, as the conservatives can be seen to be following a key principle of Burke "change in order to conserve" |
