EvaluationIn 1933 Hitler decided not to provoke a conflict with the churches until he was sure he could win. June 1933 - Hitler promised the Catholic Church that the Catholics would be left alone. They could continue their religious work and youth groups and schools would be left alone. In return the Catholic Church stayed out of politics. Hitler united all the Protestant churches together into one Reich Church under pro-Nazi Reich Bishop Müller. They were known as German Christians. They had Nazi-style uniforms, salutes and marches. |
