More democratic
Alien to our traditions

Disadvantages

Turnout very low- Welsh assembly 35.6%
Wording significant- 'do you agree that Scotland should be an independent country'
Timing-SNP decision to delay their referenda
Plato- increases apathy

Evaluation

Referenda should not be used as much be used as much because it is too dependent on timing and wording. It also increases apathy and the turnout is often very low.
