Spearman's Rank

Advantages

  • Shows the significance of the data
  • Proves/disproves correlation
  • Allows for further analysis
  • Doesn't assume normal distribution

Disadvantages

  • Can be difficult to work out
  • Quite a complicated formula
  • Can be misinterpreted
  • Need 2 sets of variable data so the test can be performed

Evaluation

Non-parametric test. Finds if there is correlation between two variables. When the calculated value is close to 1, there is positive correlation, when it's close to -1 there's negative correlation, and when it's close to 0 there is limited correlation. Calculated value must be higher than the critical value to reject the null hypothesis.
