The UK constitution is no longer fit for purpose

Advantages

  • The UK constitution doesn't give unelected judges too much power.
  • Peoples rights and freedoms are still protected in the UK constitution through the Human rights act and Judicial review.
  • Still provides a strong decisive government.

Disadvantages

  • Doesn't conform to the modern democrat world.
  • the flexibility is too great and gives the executive fa too much power over government.
  • Perogitive powers are largely undemocratic
  • Peoples rights and freedoms are sometimes argues to be inadequetley protected.

Evaluation

Therefore although the UK constitution has limitations to it, the strengths of the constitution outweigh the weaknesses and is therefore still fit for purpose.
