Structure is made up of 4 main melodic ideas:

'And the glory of the lord'

'Shall be revealed'

'And all flesh shall see it together'

'For the mouth of the lord hath spoken it'

They are combined imitatively and repeated throughout the piece.

>> The piece starts with a short ritornello (orchestral introduction) 

MOSTLY CONTRAPUNTAL !!!!!

(with some homophony and a teeny bit of monophony) 

• Imitation is used 
• The number of parts singing at once varies- so this affects the texture.

Melisma- 'shall be reveeeeaallleedddd'

Syllabism- 'for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it'

The melody is based on the 4 motifs (see structure card) 

Metre:

Metre is 3/4- DANCE LIKE

Rhythm: 

There is a HEMIOLA at the end of the ritornello, the music feels like it is in 2/4 rather than 3/4.

Tempo:

The piece is mainly allegro (fast) until the end where the piece becomes adagio for a more drawn out ending. 

Piece is in A MAJOR.

-MODULATES TO E MAJOR (dominant) AND B MAJOR (supertonic).

-Ends with a plagal cadence !! IV-I

-Harmony is DIATONIC
