Pet Carrier

Clicker
- used for classical conditioning
- Advantages:
- highly rewarding for animal
- several repetitions without losing animal's interest
- training sessions can last longer with reward-based training
- animals learn quickly
- builds a good relationship between animal and handler
- Disadvantages
- reward-based concept, so if your animal has a low food or toy drive then there is nothing valuable enough for us to use as reward
- If not done properly learned behaviours are more prone to extinction
- Does require a lot of knowledge and practice
- Requires good hand and eye coordination for more complex exercises

Halti Headcollar
- a headcollar used for dogs that pull
- Advantages:
- more control over dog
- useful to reduce pulling
- significant control over the dog's head
- more humane than choke collars or prong collars
- comes with padding
- option of closing the muzzle
- easier for dog to pant without restriction
- Disadvantages
- takes a while for dogs to adjust
- dogs might react badly
- may depress or distress your dog
- injury risk

Extendable Lead
- provide control over animal while handling
- Advantages
- more freedom for well-behaved dogs
- can be used during training 'heel' or 'back'
- gives you more control than on a dog that is off-lead

- less control of dog

- line may be hard to see from a distance so it may be a danger to others

Prong Collar
- when an animal pulls on the lead the prongs will press into the animal's neck
- Advantages:
- easy to use
- inexpensive

- effectiveness depends on dog's ability to learn from the relatively mild correction
- some dogs will still pull despite the prongs

- good as a safety precaution

- should not be reliant, only good as reinforcement

- often incorrectly used

- quick capture and release of dogs for a short period of time

- comfortable for well-behaved dogs
- training dogs not to pull can be done quicker
- highly durable
- Disadvantages
- potential harm to dog
- whiplash if the dog tries to run for something
- some dogs don't learn not to pull so may choke themselves

- can achieve different behaviours with one mental connection
- can make training easier by demonstrating the desired behaviour instead of rewarding coincidental actions

- can divert trainee from actual training if too focused on target

- improper use can cause unexpected results
- adverse reactions caused by physical abrasions
- may not entirely work because it uses pheromones
