Semantics:

The study of word meanings

Simile:

A comparsion that includes the words 'like' or 'as'

Simple Sentence:

A sentence that only contains one clause

Standard English:

The vocabulary and grammar associated with educated users of the langauge

Suboardinate Clause:

A clause within a sentence that has less importance than the main clause

Superlative:

An adjective indicating the highest degree of something, usually ending -est

Syllable:

A single unit of speech of a word, e.g. 'mag-ic - two syllables

Syndetic Listing:

Listing which involves the use of conjunctions

Synonym:

A word similar in meaning to another word
