FRAC, DEC, PERC

The one word that describles all these three is Proportion. Fractions, decimals and percentages are simply 3 different ways of expressing a proportion of something-and it's pretty important you should see them as closely related and completley interchangeable with each other. This table shows the really commen conversions which you should konw straight off without having to work them out:

1/2 0.5 50%

1/4 0.25 25%

3/4 0.75 75%

1/3 0.333333 33%

2/3 0.666667 67% rounded up

1/5 0.2 20%

The more of these conversions you learn the better- but for those that you don't know, you must also learn how to convert between the 3 types. These are the methods:

FRACTION (Divide using calculator)------> DECIMAL (x by 100)------> PERCENTAGE

e.g. 1/2 is 1 divide by 2 = 0.5 e.g. 0.5 x100 = 50%

FRACTION <------------------- DECIMAL <------------------- PERCENTAGE

The tricky one divide by 10

Converying decimals into fractions is only possible for exact decimals that haven't been rounded off.
