Computer Systems

Mainframe Computers- Large expensive computers that support many users at same time. Big organisations use mainframes to run most important jobs. Mini computer refers to smaller mainframes. Supercomputers are fastest of all computers, needed where vast numbers of calculations are carried out e.g weather forecasting. Supercomputers run few programs very fast rather than lots of programs at the same time.

Computer Systems- system is a collection of parts that work together for a particular purpose. i.e transport and banking system. A computer system is a collection of items working together and controlled by a computer i.e mobile phones, microwaves and car engines.

Embedded systems- Some computers are designed to work in just one situation, dedicated computers. Most modern electronics have computer systems that control them called embedded systems.
