• Bigger orchestras - extra woodwind and percussion
• Larger range of texture, timbre and dynamics.
• Lot of piano music.

Classical Era

Dates: 1750 - 1800

Composures: Mozart,Haydn.

Features:

• Classical Orchestras mostly used string instruments
• Clear, simple structure.
• Blanced - 2 or 4 bar phrases
• Uses both major and minor keys
• Has an easy beat to follow
• Tempo stays constant
• One tune and accompanying chords.
• Clarinets were invented in the classical period.
• Composures wrote music for royalty and aristocrats, ie offical events, church services and entertainment. Music had to be approved by their employers.
