During Photosynthesis plants make starch from carbon dioxide and water. They get carbon dioxide from the air and water from the soil. The plant uses energy in sunlight to join these chemicals together.

To test for starch, you use iodine. Iodine is an orange liquid. If you add it to starh it turns blue/black.
