Secondary socialisation is the late period of learning the ways of society, usually learned from friends, adults outside the family e.g. teachers and workmates, also the media. Between the age of 11 and 15 adolescents become very involved with their own group of friends and the influence of their family wanes (but doesn't disappear) while that of friends increases. Secondary socialisation could influence interest in music, sport, food, drinking, alcohol, smoking, substance abuse and fashion. It often does not include healthy lifestyles
