poor ere seen as Lazy so if they couldn't pay their debts they had to go to a workhouse;. These places were very basic, dirty and were not nice places to live. They had little food and had brutal work to do with little rest.

     Dickens sadly had to be taken out of education where as his siblings stayed in education. Dickens father was sent to jail for not paying his debts.

  In his time, many children from an early age had to work hard labour jobs to help their families.
