KeyStudy1:Raine-Brain abnormalities in murderers

Aim:This study hypothesises that dysfunction in the above brain structures should be found more often in the murderers than

1.dysfunction of the same area in non-murderers.

2.dysfunction in other areas.

Method:

Subjects:the murderers were 41 prisoners(39male and 2 female) charged with murder or manslaughter in calafornia.

Refered for brain imaging scans to obtain evidence relating to a defence of not guilty by reason if insanity.No murderer had psychoactive medication for 2 weeks before scanning.

Controls:each murderer was matched with a normal subject for age,sex and schizophrenia where necessary.
