Bowlby theory of attachment
· Attachment according to Bowlby is the love bond between a child and a caregiver
· The caregiver who could be the mother or another person (monotropy)
· Children have an innate tendency to attach and they build attachment in the first few years of life
· This attachment should not be broken in the sensitive period in other to avoid problems in later life
· The children use proximity promoting behaviours to encourage attachment
