Why did Britain get involved?

  • The government's foreign secretary Ernest Bevin believed that communist agression needed to be challenged. 
  • Participation would show America that Britain was one of the main powers besides Russia.

  • Britain were promised to be consulted before `Americans considered using nuclear weapons in Korea, showing a close relationship.
  • Britain had demonstrated its loyalty to the US.
