Background information on urban deprivation- prior to redevelopment
- Disconnection, building of the motorway through the heart of the area is a classic example, which bisected the area as well as disconnecting from the city centre.
- Decline of manufacturing industries, failure of significant manufacturing operations in and around the area.
- Housing- scale fo the terraced housing was not addressed by remodelling 1950's/60's.
The scheme- partners/visions/aims and objectives
- The vision for this area of leeds is more than the creation of builiding offices and apartments.
- It is about creating a sustainable community and developed with consideration for the surrounding areas for Holbeck and Beeston and how urban village connects these communities to the city centre.
- Preserve the unique character of the area.
- Yorkshire forward and Leeds city…
