Covalent bonding
- This type of bonding occurs between non-metals
- Covalent bonding is due to electrostatic attraction
- Electrons are shared (the shared pair of electrons is what holds the two atoms together)
- They don't conduct electricity (throughout the molecules the electrons are not free to move so electricity can not be conducted)
- The compounds have both low melting and boiling points (intermolecular forces are weak - in comparison to the strong bonds between atoms)
