Crumple Zones

Most modern cars have a feature installed called Crumple Zones. Crumple zones are areas of metal which can crumple to absorb force upon impact with an object in the instance of a crash etc. 

Here,the green and grey metal at the front of the car would crush to absorb the contact force from the object in a crash to prevent severe whiplash or crushing for the passenger.
