• Birth rate is a good indicator, but death rate is a poor indactor (of development)
• Single measures have limitations when used on their own- hide extremes in society as they are averages
  • Use several figures- overview of economic + social environments (+living standards)
• Standard of living and Quality of life are different:-
  • standard of living is about money and how much we earn, but quality of life is one's satisfaction of life as a whole
  • A HIGH STANDARD OF LIVING DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN A HIGH QUALITY OF LIFE
