Editing
Continuity Editing (invisible editing) -
Matching of shots. Creates illusion of linear time and space. Makes actions flow smoothly and allows the audience to not realise transitions. Examples: Shot reverse shot, 180 degree rule.
Non continuity editing -
Shots mismatched to disrupt linear time and space. Confuses and disturbs the 'reality' illusion. Draws attention to the process or cutting and editing. Exampes: Jump cut, Montage, Flash back/foward.
Visual - (graphic editing) Visual connections between cuts. Graphic match. SImilar shapes are faded/cut to. Example: Drain fades into an eye.
Pace - (Rhythmic editing) Cuts paced with a rhythm. Example: Montage to…
