Elements
Elements are substances made up of the same type of atom and cannot be brokn down into anything simpler. All substances are made up of tiny atoms. The periodic table is a tabular display of the chemical elements. The elements are presented in increasing atomic number.

Mixtures
A mixture contains more than one type of atom but the elements are joined together. Mixtures are physical changes and therefore they can be separated. Elements in the mixture retain their properties and there are physical methods of separating them.
Compounds
